What is the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)?
The Pakistan Software Export Board sits at the heart of the country’s tech scene. Backed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, it’s all about putting Pakistan’s IT services and software exports on the global map. PSEB helps local companies get noticed, brings in foreign investors, and builds up a skilled workforce.
Picture it as the main driver behind Pakistan’s tech growth. From its office in Islamabad, the team shapes strategies and rolls out programs that really move the needle. What they do doesn’t just boost exports — it opens up new jobs at the board itself and sparks opportunities for private companies all over the country.
Exploring PSEB Career Opportunities & Job Types
PSEB has a lot to offer if you’ve got the right skills. Working here means you get a mix of public service and hands-on experience in the fast-moving tech world. There’s something for everyone—whether you’re into shaping big-picture policies, managing projects, building the country’s IT image abroad, or keeping the tech running behind the scenes.
If you like strategy, you’ll dig into trends and build programs that help boost exports. Project managers keep industry development and training on track. The marketing and communications folks are out there telling the world what Pakistan’s IT sector can do. And if you’re more technical, you’ll handle the digital backbone that keeps everything humming.
Keep an eye on official government channels for 2025 job announcements from the Pakistan Software Export Board. They’re looking for people who care about national progress and know their stuff.
Qualification and Experience
You need at least 16 years of education in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, Information Security, Telecommunications, Electronics, or another related ICT field from a university recognized by HEC, whether local or international. If your academic background isn’t an exact match but you’ve got solid technical experience, you might still get considered.
You need at least 12 years of hands-on experience running big IT, telecom, or digital infrastructure operations. That means you’ve dealt with things like network architecture, cloud systems, IP services, cybersecurity, or data centers. Out of those 12 years, you should’ve spent at least 5 leading teams or projects—setting technical strategy, planning infrastructure, managing operations, shaping policy, or steering technology in places like telecom companies, large businesses, cloud providers, or public sector ICT groups. If you’ve worked with government rules, procurement processes, PPRA guidelines, or public sector digital projects, that’s a real plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of planning, rolling out, and fine-tuning PSEB’s ICT and digital infrastructure. Keep everything running smoothly—secure, reliable, and able to grow—across software parks, incubation centers, coworking spaces, PSEB’s own systems, and digital platforms like TechDestination, various portals, and registries.
- Bring in up-to-date cloud, cybersecurity, and data management practices throughout the organization. Set up strong disaster recovery, business continuity plans, and keep a close eye on the network and cybersecurity. Give technical advice on MoITT policies, PTA and telecom regulations, and make sure we’re sticking to all the right compliance frameworks.
- Push for new tech that makes services more reliable, efficient, and safe. Set the standards for technology, IT policies, SOPs, and cybersecurity across PSEB, and make sure everyone follows them. Back national decisions about cloud policy, cybersecurity readiness, and digital infrastructure strategy. Keep everything in line with government rules, procurement processes, and PTA or telecom regulations.
- Help IT companies and software parks adopt modern tools, platforms, and digital services. Offer technical advice for boosting IT exports, bringing in foreign investors, and supporting international programs. Check out and recommend updates for hardware, software, cloud services, cybersecurity tools, and network design.
- Handle relationships with vendors, manage technical reviews, keep an eye on SLAs, and take care of IT procurement. Represent PSEB in MoITT committees, industry groups, and technical forums.
- Lead the way on designing, building, and constantly improving PSEB’s digital platforms—TechDestination, the Integrated Labour Management System (ILMS), registration and certification systems, automation platforms, talent and training platforms, and any new digital projects coming up. Make sure all these platforms are easy to use, secure, scalable, and work well together.
- Guide teams of network engineers, IT operations staff, product experts, and cybersecurity pros. Build a culture that prizes strong performance, reliability, security, and innovation. Coach technical teams, help them grow, and keep their performance on track.
Skills and Competencies
- Well-known about network architecture inside and out—routing, switching, IP services, cloud stuff, virtualization, cybersecurity frameworks, and running data centers. I get how national ICT policies work, along with telecom regulations, PTA rules, how the government buys things, and what matters most to MoITT.
- Led big technical teams, handled crises, and kept ICT services secure and reliable across the country. When there’s a problem, I dive in headfirst and focus on results. I can design, roll out, and manage disaster recovery plans, business continuity strategies, and cybersecurity setups.
- Writing and speaking? No problem. I can pull together technical briefs, policy notes, reports, and presentations that actually make sense. I’ve managed vendors, set up SLAs, done technical evaluations, handled procurement, and kept everything compliant.
- Pressure doesn’t rattle & stay sharp and make the right call during critical system incidents. I know how to work with stakeholders at every level—MoITT, PTA, ISPs, telecom operators, industry groups, academia, and even international partners.
